Excellent resource for creating pictures and posters for class, also useful in lessons *****

Hinduism

http://www.btinternet.com/~vivekananda/

Suitable for KS1/2 teachers & pupils.  The origin of the word Hindu is explained along with beliefs about God with form, as a person and God without form. Places of worship and the cycle of life are described and this very informative site is well illustrated. Better readers will manage most of it ****

Islam

http://www.gowild.org.uk/resources/curriculum/RE/fivepillars/index.html

Suitable for KS1/2 teachers & KS2 pupils.  A site provided by Bob Wallis of Knottingley CE school, Wakefield, it provides a very readable explanation of the five pillars of Islam, covering faith, prayer, giving, the fast and the pilgrimage. Plenty of graphics and clear, easy text make this a site that children can use for research ****

Islamic Posters; http://www.discoverislam.com

Site contains many posters useful as teaching tools and displays ***

Islam on the BBC; http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/islam/index.shtml

Judaism

http://www.rmplc.co.uk/eduweb/sites/carolrb/

Suitable for KS1/2 teachers.  The Judaism area of the site explains the main features of the religion, festivals and customs. The background introductory music, photographs of artefacts and the Wailing Wall, combined with useful information about synagogues, the Torah scroll and so much more make this a very worthwhile site *****

World Religions; http://re-xs.ucsm.ac.uk/re/religion/judaism/

Not as good as the other world religion web sites, but worth a look for teachers **

Virtual Synagogue; http://re-xs.ucsm.ac.uk/re/places/judaism.htm

A reasonable web site again not as good as the other religious virtual tours, but it does have a printed quiz ***

Jewish Artefacts: http://www.strath.ac.uk/Departments/SocialStudies/RE/Database/Graphics/Artefacts/JAfacts.html

Another excellent artefact web site great as a teaching tool and for making posters and displays.*****
